Selvage Strings Update--It's Done!

I must say I've really enjoyed sewing along with Lori at Humble Quilts and participating in this Stringalong project. It got me moving! Thank you, Lori! And thanks, too, to Rachel, Wendy, and Janet O. for sharing!

Well, I admit this finished quilt is rather heavy, lol!

The small foundation blocks are 6" and were so quick and easy to make. I tried out several layouts but ultimately decided on this one with black sashing and border.

A little closer.

Barbie quilted it for me in a large leafy pattern as I didn't want that dense overall look.

It worked out fine!

I think that striped binding added some pizzazz . . .

. . . and so did the paisley fabric on the back! Ta-da!

I'm linking up with Lori here. Take a look!

Enjoy your weekend!

  5. Beautiful right down to the binding and backing. Love the black sashing. Breaks up the strings and gives the eye a place to rest.

  6. So many fabrics documented in those strings. It's beautiful. You chose a good design for the quilting, keeping it simple. A striped binding is always a fun way to finish out the design.

  7. Oh, I see that your strings are selvedge edges. A lady who makes use of it all.

  11. Wow, it's just a gorgeous finish and will be so fun to look at for years to come, I'm sure, with all the selvages! I adore the backing - sort of Victorian in a fun fun way.

  12. Such a visual treat! The black really frames it all nicely and it is so fun to read the selvedges and recall the actual fabrics. I wish I had more of some of those fabrics. :)

  13. Wonderful! I can only imagine how heavy it is. Foundation piecing gets that way so fast.
