Mom's Early American Quilt

When my brother visited last month, he brought one of our mom's quilts for me to repair. But before I did that I took some photos.

It took about 2-1/2 years for our mother to make this Paragon kit called "Early American." She signed the reverse side of the binding " 5/50-10/53 Etta Bower Davis."

Here are some details:

Charming houses . . .

. . . birds and a deer . . .

. . . trees, fruit, floral vine and leaves . . .

. . . and lots of feather and cross-hatch quilting :) As for repairs, there are a few appliques that need stitching and several spots to evaluate--not sure I will tackle those. We'll see.

Connie and I have been cutting flowers just about every other day at our plot in the community garden. Right now we have Cosmos, Snapdragons, Dahlias and the Calendulas and Poppies are about ready to 'pop.'

It's so much fun to have fresh flowers on the table every day! Here's the lineup in small vases.

The more Cosmos we pick the more buds we get :)

Finally--calm after the storm.

Have a great week. Summer's flying by!
