October Mini

This month's mini started with four 5" squares . . .

. . . that were in with a pack of 125 that I got at the 'you know where' :) Such playful designs and perfect fall colors.

I cut each square in half and inserted a strip between the two pieces. I couldn't figure out the direction of that green/yellow print so it may be upside down. What do you think??

The falling leaves fabric was another TS purchase. It's quilted in vertical rows with gold thread and I added polka dots for the binding.

All in all it was a fun piece to make and I used fabrics that I never would have considered using up until now.

The finished piece is 14" x 17-1/2".

That's all for now.

See you next week!

New Project and More Leaf Peeping

Just like that I started a new project and wanted to share a few more leaf-peeping photos with you.

Two weeks ago I found these templates at the TS and I couldn't resist! Here is a photo of the original quilt which is made of fancy fabrics. Isn't it a beauty?

So as soon as I got home I started pulling scraps and making blocks which are 8" unfinished. I'm not paying much attention to a specific time period instead trying to use fabrics that don't always work in my other repro projects. I put the blocks on my design wall with space for sashing strips and corner stones. I have a striped fabric that I think will be perfect :)

The Ausable River taken from the entrance to Whiteface Mountain.

Another view from the same location.

On the way to Lake Placid.

Another sunrise from our dock.

Our driveway. . .

. . . and a rainbow when I went out for a walk at 4 p.m. :)

That's all for now.

See you next week with my monthly mini!

This 'n That

Want to see some fall foliage? Or some chairs? Or a little quilt? Or a screensaver? Click on the photos for a better view.

Sunrise on the mountain and river taken from our deck.

Same view on another day but from our dock.

On a back road . . .

. . . leading to Franklin Falls--one of my all-time favorite places.

In my quest to decorate Adirondack-style, I bought some new dining room chairs. Aren't they fun?

I couldn't resist making another little quilt . . .

. . . from thrift shop fabrics.

I plan on donating it to the shop but this time I added a label :)

When I turned on my computer last week, this colorful image was on the screen. Thanks, Microsoft! What a great idea for using solid fabrics!

I'll close with this expansive view and will share more next week :)

Enjoy the season!
