I've got some new projects in the works :)
With a medallion quilt in mind I started making these blocks for one of the outer borders but wasn't happy with the way they turned out. They may end up as a small quilt.
I also wanted to make something quick and easy with all the strips I have in my scrap bins. I downloaded this pattern on Etsy. It's Saranac by Karen Griska. I knew it was the one for me!
I swapped out the 16-patches as the starting point and substituted 4-patches instead. I already had a supply of 2" squares.
And wouldn't you know . . .
Our guild's November BOM is 'Diagonal Sticks.' It's string pieced on a foundation that's 9" x 13." Another fun one to make!
Have a great week!

Oh boy, new projects! Even though I have a million quilts started, it is always fun to start something new! I love Karen's pattern, but I like your 4-patch better as a center. Can't wait to see this one progress. So many scraps, so little time!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun it is to start something new! I can't stop making these blocks. Obsessed once again, lol!
DeleteI really like both of your projects. They make me want to rush to my sewing room and start something new. Must resist!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janet! Obviously I can't resist when the mood strikes, lol!
DeleteI'm with Janet. I love those scrappy blocks! My scraps are calling...
ReplyDeleteFinding a couple new projects that you love and uses scraps is a double bonus. I like how you simplified both. I guess that's how my mind thinks. It will be fun to see how you progress. You always come up with great ideas.
ReplyDeletewhat fun with scraps! I am always so happy to hear quilters making it their way - I like the four patches. I like the nine patch centers too.
ReplyDeleteYou have such great fabric scraps
I can see where being much too frugal when purchasing fabric has turned out to kick me from behind...I don’t usually have scraps left over from any given project and if I do, never neatly organized in strips or units. Love your piecing and your choice of fabrics - you have a great stash!!
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, I made a couple log cabin quilts using a large print. A busy look but I liked the look. I used some less busy prints for 1/2 of each block to tame it down.
