Selvage Strings Update

I'm linking up with Lori at Humble Quilts to share my Stringalong progress. Be sure to hop on over to see what others are making, too.

So far I've made 55 6" selvage blocks but haven't yet made up my mind how I want to set them together. This is another possibility.

There's really not much waste when sewing with selvages. Each row gets shorter and shorter so you can always use little bits and pieces.

This is my current pile all ironed and ready to go :) I'm thinking another 10 blocks or so. Thanks again, Wendy, for thinking of me!

(I also save my selvedges, but give them to my friend Pam who is on her second or hid selvedge quilt! )

  2. I've never saved selvedges for anything but tomato plant ties for the garden each year, but they really are very effective when used in string blocks. Very nice!

  4. Love your selvage blocks! I've been collecting selvages too, but I haven't decided what to make with them. I only have a shoe box stuffed but I am anxious to do something with them.

  6. What a collection of selvages. I like the zig zag layout. With a string quilt like this you'd have lots of reading to do.

  7. They are looking great. I think any setting you decide on will be fantastic. And thanks for taking some off my hands. It helps relieve the guilt of not using them myself! And, I agree with Kyle. Lots of fun reading. It would be a great quilt for a sick child who could lie in bed and read all the selvages!
