This 'n That

I've been busy working on June's mini and selvage strings but I can't show them to you until the end of the month. So here are some miscellaneous snapshots that I've taken the past few weeks.

I had just finished shopping at Aldi's--the new grocery store in town--when I spotted two egrets in a marshy area near where I live. This was just a lucky shot :)

A Pileated Woodpecker was hopping around on someone's lawn when we were at the cabin over Memorial Day weekend.

It 'snowed' white fluffy seed heads which covered our driveway.

Pretty flowers on a Catalpa tree.

There's a huge Honeysuckle bush on my walking route and it smells so nice!

This deer and her little fawn were romping around the back yard last week but they must have moved on.

We were in Albany, NY, last weekend for our granddaughter's final dance recital as a senior. This is the interior of the Palace Theater. It's a beautiful building. See more pics here.

I'm thinking it's time to re-visit this UFO and finally add the border :) Besides, I need an evening quilting project and this will be perfect for summer.

Have a great week!

  1. Loved seeing your random real life photos. That egret photo is great. Our lilacs were exceptional fragrant this year. The air smells so sweet. I've got to get a summer evening project geared up. Your UFO will be happy to be finished. Can't wait to see you June projects.

  2. What an interesting group of pictures! Also what a thrill it must have been for your granddaughter to perform in such a grand theater as that! Wow! ---"Love"

  3. Oh your hexie quilt looks wonderful. Those borders are framing it nicely.
I also love to see a bird photo too, that woodpecker is amazing.
    pretty blooms.
I love the scent of flowers and in the rain seems like I can smell them anymore.

  4. It has been a long time since I last saw a catalpa tree in bloom - we are at the far edge of Zone 4 for reliability. Did you used to pick the sweet honeysuckle blossoms and “drink” the nectar? Such a fragrance from childhood...your summer evening project looks perfect and after a busy day what better way to wind down...

  5. Yes, we too have had the cotton wood fluff here snowing around. Not as thick this year as some in the past though.

    1. That was the first time we'd seen those fluffy white seed heads. It was crazy!

  6. The little medallion is so gorgeous!! I can never get good photos of birds.
