New Project and More Leaf Peeping

Just like that I started a new project and wanted to share a few more leaf-peeping photos with you.

Two weeks ago I found these templates at the TS and I couldn't resist! Here is a photo of the original quilt which is made of fancy fabrics. Isn't it a beauty?

So as soon as I got home I started pulling scraps and making blocks which are 8" unfinished. I'm not paying much attention to a specific time period instead trying to use fabrics that don't always work in my other repro projects. I put the blocks on my design wall with space for sashing strips and corner stones. I have a striped fabric that I think will be perfect :)

The Ausable River taken from the entrance to Whiteface Mountain.

Another view from the same location.

On the way to Lake Placid.

Another sunrise from our dock.

Our driveway. . .

. . . and a rainbow when I went out for a walk at 4 p.m. :)

That's all for now.

See you next week with my monthly mini!

  1. Oh my goodness, what beautiful foliage! Your mountains and river are amazing. We have great foliage as well but no mountains here sadly. The Ipswich River is nearby and we have the occasional eagle flying from there to a reservoir down the road and that is so fun to see! I love the template you found and your blocks are stunning! The original quilt is huge! And made out of silks and taffetas, wow. Can't wait to see your finished quilt. Jan in MA

  2. I love the quilt you are making. I made a mini from that block design a while back and it is one of my favorites. So are you hand piecing all of your blocks?
Love all your autumnal photos. Makes me feel like curling up in a quilt with cocoa--or taking a walk through the leaves. :)
    Lovely rainbow, too.

  3. Gorgeous scenic photos! The fall colors certainly didn't disappoint in your area. One day I'd like to make a quilt of the Old Italian blocks. Yours is looking great, how large do you anticipate this one becoming?

  8. Oh those blocks are delicious!!! I can't wait to see more. I was fortunate enough to see the original at the Shelburne one year. Froncie Quinn does a marvelous job patterning some of their quilts. Happy that you were able to pick this up at the TS!
