Ice and Red and Green

We had an ice storm yesterday and it was so beautiful outside this morning that I've decided to alternate some pics with red and green applique blocks for this holiday season.

Our holly tree encased in ice.

A block from A Christmas Card quilt that I made in 1981.

What a spectacular sight it was to see the sun shining through the glistening trees!

An unfinished Cockscomb block from many years ago. Some day . . .

A frozen bush, lol!

Another block from 1981.

 More holly . . .

. . . and a block in My Best Applique quilt.

Here's North Country on the sofa . . .

. . . and a detail of one of the blocks.

But I'll end it here as I still have more shopping to do, do you??

  1. The ice photos are beautiful, if frigid looking! And so are those applique blocks. Love this post, perfect for the season. No more shopping, thankfully.

  2. Your red and green blocks are so pretty and so is the ice as long as you don't have to go out. Shopping done, wrapping, no.

  5. Beautiful blocks, beautiful photos! I'm glad I'm in South Jersey where we just got rain and flurries! Now when I'm off next week and don't have to deal with an hour commute to work I'd be happy to have some ice and snow!

  9. Oh how beautiful! I do love an ice storm if it isn't too destructive. Your holly looks so pretty under a blanket of glass. I really love seeing those blocks from your 1981 quilt. I think I still have a few of those greens tucked away in a box. You did a remarkable job creating a vintage look with the fabrics that were available then. Aren't we lucky now? (well, er... maybe not. It does tax the budget!) Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing.

  10. Your quilt blocks are beautiful, as are the photos. I must say though that as beautiful as it is, I can do without ice storms.

    Merry Christmas!
